David A. Khan, MD, has published extensively on the intersection of pulmonary disease and depression, with a focus on major depressive disorder (MDD) and asthma. His work includes studies on the temporal relationship between self-directed violence and environmental factors, hypothyroidism in patients with asthma and depression, and depressive symptoms in inner-city children with asthma. Khan's research also addresses the prevalence and clinical implications of depression in asthma. He has collaborated frequently with E. Sherwood Brown, A. John Rush, and others.
