Giuseppe Maina, MD, has contributed extensively to research on mood disorders, including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders. His work has focused on pharmacologic treatments, such as antidepressants and mood stabilizers, and their effects on depressive episodes, anxiety comorbidity, and quality of life in bipolar disorder. He has also investigated weight changes associated with long-term psychiatric medication use and studied treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder and burning mouth syndrome.
